A major worry I have for Sleepygimp’s return.

Hey guys, I know we’re all eagerly waiting for Sleepy to hopefully return but there’s something that kind of been eating at me based on what they indicated in the comments of their hiatus post on Subscribistar.

In these comments Sleepy indicated a few times that one of the reasons why they decided to take a break is because of the tones/themes of their stories and situations, not wanting them to get “too depressing”. I can really understand that idea but also I couldn’t help but fear that they’d purposefully smooth out a lot of the edges of their work for this reason. The pseudo-dark nature of their stories and situations was always one of the most unique things about Sleepy’s work, it was way more intense than any other BDSM artist was prepared to go.

I also fear that To Break A Thief would be cancelled on their possible return for this reason as well. This would (ironically) break me because its shaping up to be one of my favourite comics from Sleepy. It’s like being stuck between and a rock and a hard place because I don’t want that type of stuff to change but I also don’t want Sleepy to continue doing things they no longer wish to do.

Hopefully I’m just getting worried for nothing but it was just something I thought I’d share with y’all.

  1. Yeah I agree with you. Im just hoping the most that he will actually return and not quit or anything like that. I really like his stuff and love reading it. Idm if he takes a while, let him take his time but I just hope he returns. Also, To break a thief is my favourite story from so I hope it doesn’t get cancelled

  2. Yeah I agree with you. I’ll be happy to see his return because I love his art style, but be a bit bummed if the kinks are diluted, since I liked the more hardcore comics, “fled” and “to break a thief” being my favorites.

The fact that Evie and Violet aren’t just a kinky couple but fully fledged psycho who will drug kidnap and enslave unsuspecting girls for the rest of their lives is part of the appeal.

Still, in the end sleepy has no obligation to continue down anything, and he is well in his right to shift tone.

  3. I was one of the largest proponents of ending TBT, I despised what had been done with Trixie and the world, but at the same time still adored the art and the writer and I truly hope that was still understood. I deeply wish for Sleepy to return, but would welcome a lightened story line with still having the hardcore scenes

  4. I’m a very sexually charged person and I kinda find other men intimidating because most other men that are into the things in into are really REALLY rapey in real life and I just don’t tolerate that. It’s a weird thing but on this subreddit I’ve always felt pretty safe and everyone feels friendly and well intentioned. I personally wouldn’t mind it if he went a bit less dark if that’s what he wanted. I’m here for the characters and art style (best drawn feet of ALL time – no contest)

Keep it real folks. I’m still hoping he’ll return eventually.

  5. I’d be happy with the art getting less dark. Country Girl for me was a bit depressing, and I would prefer if she managed to be free. That’s just one example where I could see the dark tones becoming a bit much.

To be honest, I just hope they don’t retire. I love their artwork, and would be happy reading any erotic stories they want to share. Nobody draws quite the way they do, would be a shame to have it all end.

  6. Look, honestly, I like this author’s stories, but one of the things that has always bothered me about sleepygimp’s work is the lack of continuity, the story seems to be going from nowhere to nowhere, I would really like the plots to have a conclusion, that would give more depth to the work, like, if Evelyne faced the consequences of her actions, or if the country girl escaped, or if Nancy managed to bring Evelyne to justice, you know, all of this would take the work to a part two, it would be more serious, less comical, and yes I I would like to see the end of To Break a Thief, but a satisfactory conclusion is not that all that torture is for nothing, anyway, that’s what I said.
