I’m somewhat out of the loop post-hiatus.
I understand and respect Sleepy’s reasoning for taking the break and changing direction with their work. I think it’s the right call of they’re starting to resent it, but now I wonder what they’ll do next?
Like they have this new isekai-esque story that seems like it could be cool, and they seem to be planning on bringing Family Values to a close within the next few chapters. What about their other stories? Are they going to just drop them? Bring them all to a conclusion or just pivot the style.
I know what “Sleepygimp” was about, but I’m having trouble understanding what “Sleepy” will be about post-rebrand. Could use someone in the know to clarify for me!
I messaged him a while back. As far as I understood, the gist of it is he’s planning on finishing Family Values, To Catch a Thief, and other long-running proyects. However, he’s going to dial back on some of the more extreme, straight-up torture elements of both the current works and any going forward: we can expect more bdsm stuff, but it will be more along some of the milder works, like Yoga Hypnosis I think: definetly kinky, but notnas extreme as To Break a Thief.
I’ll be honest: I wasn’t interested in Sleepy’s new direction. I dropped his SubscribeStar (after supporting him at its highest level for about a year).
yes i a long time, fan a could not understand him not even offering his old work on his subscribestar page anymore, its not for everyone but i seeming like others had a issue with that as well as the pricing and amount of output, , hey create what you want but why expect your fans to mindlessly stick around no matter what and keep paying, i wish him the best but, i dont think its going to work out well

Him going more vanilla is just such a shame, not having his old artwork on his page is even worse. It’s definitely the main reason why I’m not contributing anymore, there was something so unique about his stuff, that it actually dared to go as extreme as it did sometimes but I guess we’re never going to get those extremes again and now we’re just left with sex and a bit of bondage if even that. I knew this was going to happen after the hiatus but it still really stings.
To break a thief was so hot. Plus the anal fisting in the spa comic.

NGL, I’m kind of saddened by this. Sleepy is my biggest inspo, and I have been working for years to get to a point where my art skills are good enough to draw comics like he has. Knowing Sleepy will change his story type is a bit discouraging, as I would always get such motivation whenever he posted to keep on getting better.
But, if that is what makes him happy, important is he enjoys his art.
I will say though, it does feel like he may be feeling morally guilty, and if it’s weighing on him, then maybe he should do a change of paste. Tho I really hope he is not mentally torturing himself, because of it. As his comics helped me cope from csa alot, the nature of the content of the comics being morally bad, are for a disturbed and traumatised individual as me, one of my biggest comforts on my worst days.
I do, however, think, considering the money people spent, Sleepy should have left his older stuff on the website. As people have paid for them, they should have the right to access it whenever.
Either way, I support Sleepy in making the decision that makes him happy. And I will have to accept it and do my best regardless.
